Scenario 1 - The good one.
Use the FM to navigate and select a directory with a lot of files in it (e.g. more than 500). You start to position to the file you want to edit by pressing DOWN a couple of times. File was found, enter "e" for edit and edit the file. Return from the editor by END and you are back to the FM. The display is same as before you have entered "e" for edit. Screen and cursor position kept.
Scenario 2 - The bad (very bad) one.
Use the FM to navigate and select a directory with a lot of other directories in it (e.g more than will fit on one screen). You start to position to the directory you want to select by pressing DOWN a couple of times. Directory was found, enter "s" to select this special directory and go on your processing...edit, browse, whatever. Return from the selected directory by END and you are back to the FM. This time the display is not the same as before you have selected the directory. The screen and cursor position not kept. The position is top of the previous list with cursor in home position. (same as issue TBTOP in ISPF).
This behaviour makes it nearly impossible to work with the File Manager. This is very different to ISPF and CTC or whatever. A small and working emulation of "ISPF 3.4" must be available for me, because I'm not editing one file a week in only one directory. If I do so, I can use NotePad, Wordpad or whatever.
Sorry, but keep previous screen position when returning from a directory/folder selection (same as you do when return from editing). This is strongly recommended for me.
Btw: This text has been edited by using SPFLite and then do a cut/paste. You see, it's going on...

R60: This will take some effort, so don't expect a quick fix unless I have a 'light bulb' moment.

George: Please one more small question: Is this the way it works (is my description correct ?) and in the moment there is nothing I can do (so I'm doing nothing wrong with the customization of SPFLite)? Options, or whatever?

R60: It's not you, it's just not doing what you want.
And your suggestions are most welcome, our biggest problem over the years is a lack of feedback / suggestions from the users. So yes, you're giving us work, but it's not necessarily unwelcome work.

Robert: Thx for your comments.
My feeling is that you and George are very nice guys with a (also) very nice hobby to provide an TSO/ISPF host-compatible editor to 'the world' (and this 'free of charge'). But... If you do a lot of 'offline' editing on host like files (like me) you also need something like 'ISPF 3.4'. Remember that I say like and I don't expect an ISPF/PDF environment with Dialog Manger functions and so on (but btw. it would be nice... okay I stop this). The editor is so good - from the very first moment on - so I like your SPFLite. (okay - some issues on the Edit/Browse must be discussed later on, but not now)
Where are your targets/customers? Unix people? Loving their VI, or more host guys, looking for an 'environment' they know and they can use at home (may be under Windows)? Without willing to learn new/other crazy editor stuff.
Some time ago I also use the CTC solution (a more than 10 year old one) and it works. Sorry, but it works better than SPFLite. But if you are willing, you could improve SPFLite.
I try to support you, wherever I can. 'There is a new player in town', if you want to do so.

Robert: during review of your post... ...and I'm (again) laughing a little bit...
You say "...and the fact is, SPFLite as an editor is much better."
Sure? Some of my former staff/colleagues would point out for this "He leaned out of the window".
You and George are nice guys, so I like to do (writing) things like this. Let's talk about the editor capabilities later, but you know that the 'window' is very big and you are sitting in (let's say) the 50'th floor.
For some time, I was also responsible to self written software - so I know the impact of such a phrase... So, now it may be the time to ask you if you bet 5 bugs for this?
Alright, I'm joking - and I love this. But please stay tuned, because until now I don't tell you anything about the editor capabilities. You are also invited to make some jokes, because you and George are very nice guys. Awaiting your response...

Robert: Okay, I agree.
Sorry, if this was too harshly (but I'm joking, because I know it's not very easy to do things like this - supply a compatible editor etc.). I know, that you try to do your very best.
