Hi, A new bug fix release has been pushed out. It corrects a bug in handling foreign language keyboards which could trigger a crash, and another in handling file Profiles using the USE facility. No new enhancements in this release.

The Profile editor still does not show the "Profile USE name".
The FMFFList= in the SPFLite.INI is now not only in the [General] section as "FMFFList=EXE,DLL,xls, img" but also in the [FManager] section with "FMFFList=". And the field "Enter filename extensios exempt from FF file searches" in the Global Options contains one of my filelist-name.

Jo:
Profile editor shows the USE name correctly for me, this is the 8.2.5103 version - correct?
The FMFFList is indeed just a wee bit 'lost'. A bit too much copy/paste on my part without adjusting ALL the variable names. Corrected.
I guess my hopes that 5103 would be stable for a while go out the window. Oh well. Stay tuned for yet another release.

Hi,
Since pushing out a fix release seems to have the magical effect of instantly creating new bug reports, lets pretend this is a release announcement.
You may all now send in any new bug reports.
If nothing shows up, I will push out a new fix release in a couple days - - THAT will surely trigger some bugs. ;-))

Ok, so I'm here with another bug report. Also related to Profile USE: When editing a new file type, the "Create new Profile INI" popup is displayed then opening the "(Choose)" there we find all .INI-files to select from. But when selecting one of them (TXT.INI in my case) an error window pops up: The new2.INI file contains the line "ProfUsing=TXT.INI": and yes, I use v8.2.5103 Jo

Jo: OK, back to the drawing board I guess. Do you STILL not see the USE name in the Profile Editor? I'd like to put that to bed first since it seems OK here.
Meanwhile, I'll go chase the NEW problem.

From the FM Profiles filelist I've tried ev'ry profile (Rex,Rexx,Auto,Source) and the "Profile USE name" field is always blank, except when selecting new2.INI (created just before). Here I see an error popup (twice) and then the Profile Editor shows up Jo

... some more tests: during edit of any *.Rex or *.Rexx file issuing "profile edit" brings up the Profile Editor with a blank "Profile USE name". But: entering "profile edit rex" from the FM Command> the Profile Editor shows the corrext OOREXX in the "Profile USE name". And also when in edit and entering "profile edit rex" the "Profile USE name" is correctly set.

Jo: When a Profile contains a USE value, the Use'd Profile is loaded and it is those values that appear in a PROF display. The heading is modified slightly to show both the original and USE name. When such a file is loaded, and a PROF EDIT is issued without a 2nd operand, it is taken as a request for display of the 'running' Profile, so the Profile Edit display is for the USE'd name, which of course does NOT have a USE value. If PROF EDIT XXX is entered, then the Profile Edit display is for that specific Profile, so any USE value will be shown. However, In playing with all this, there was a problem in the Profile Edit display in that the heading did NOT correctly identify the Profile being displayed; very confusing. So I've fiddled that whole process and there's a new trial version available on the web site. www.SPFLite.com/Files/SPFLite825108.EX_Sometimes I wish we hadn't created USE. Nah! Not really, it's too useful; but it does clutter up Profile handling a lot. George

Jo: Thanks for the quick test, and I'll agree on it's usefullness. I'll still let this version 'sit' for a couple more days, but then I'll roll it out. It's unfortunate that every time I do some major re-org/cleanup of the code and push out a mid-size release, stuff like this creeps out. But with all the various options and settings it's becoming well nigh on impossible to test out things as completely as it probably should be; there just aren't enough hours in the day. (But actually, it's more like battle fatigue on my part, or laziness, or both)
