it is possible to include 2 parameters, lrecl and recfm, when we open a file, ie, when we start the spflite passing this two parametrs?
thanks,

Hi, I'm migrating my mainframe files to windows and, like in mainframe system, I have several files with several lrecl/recfm each one. So, I wish to open this files with spflite (via command line or others external program) and pass this arguments to spflite and open the files with correct profile. All files have the same extension, so the extension does not define the properties of the file. I hope, now, you understand (sorry the resume of first post...)
thnks

hi robert, thanks for your reply. ok, I understand what you mean. if I have several cobol files or jcl files, etc, all of theme share the same lrecl/recfm, and in this case I can grouped them in same profile. But what I mean is when I have several data files with diferents lrecl/recfm. And you suggested that I can group them in groups with same lrecl/recfm. What I do now is open the file with default profile, change lrecl and recfm with values of file opened, and then reload with reload command. So, I thought that whould be a method to do this automatically (before or after or during open file). I open my files in command line (SPFLite <file name>), so will be good if I can pass lrecl/recfm parameters, or in another way, create a profile file with the name of the file to be open and write in this profile the attributes of the file. But avoiding rename my files...
thanks

parruda: There is an ability, once SPFLite is active to edit a file and specify the Profile to be used. The command is EDIT 'filename' .profilename
This is also available in File Manager, you can specify E .profilename on the linecommand (the line command field is a scrollable field, no problem with fitting the command in).
However, there is no provision at present to allow the .profilename operand to be specified on the command line. We would have to look at extending the command line support to allow that.

thanks George. I will be waiting that you consider this extending. Meanwhile I think the best workaround is all files share the same profile and rewrite the profile before open (or start spflite) the file.
thanks all.
