*** WARNING *** Probable user error! I am trying to run SPFLite V8.4 on a Windows XP SP3. I get the following messages:
C:\Program Files\SPFLite\SPFLite.exe The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
Repeated attempts to download and execute SPFLite always fail this way.
I don't think that XP SP3 is a supported level of the OS. But I don't know where I can find a supported release of SPFLite. Can anyone point me to a supported level of SPFLite for XP? I am stuck on XP SP3 because I have Dragon Naturally Speaking Version 8 on this machine. The same download works just fine on another machine (a laptop) that is running Windows 10. adTHANXvance!

Robert's answer is correct. There is some kind of problem with the MS runtime libraries for C and I simply have not been able to figure out just what the solution is. SPFLite uses the PCRE libraries to support Regular Expressions. Somewhere in the DLL dependency chain there's a problem, but none of the suggested solutions on the web have done any good.
And, as XP is now unsupported, expending effort to locate and fix this is simply not going to happen. Sorry.

Robert:
I found V8.2.5179 and it works just fine on my XP SP3 tower machine. Thanks for the advice. -JJS
