I have looked at the documentation many times but cannot see how it is possible to insert a new line into a file being edited from within a macro. In my case I actually wish to insert a note line, but that may involve inserting a normal data line and then changing it to a note line - that would be OK. Related to that, would I still be able to locate a particular line afterward (so that, after inserting an arbitrary number of note lines, the actual data line logical line numbers in the file do not change)?

petmo: You should be able to directly add a note line via:
SPF_CMD("LINE NOTE !" + tstr$(LPtr)) ' Where LPtr is the line AFTER which you want the NOTE inserted.
You probably will of course have to adjust line pointers you may have established before doing the insert.

Yes, LINE at first didn't seem useful, but I wasn't thinking in Macro mode at that point.
