Hi, The introduction of Version 10 brought the separation of the actual color information from the AUTO files to the new Schemes section of Options. I've been thinking of: - Adding some default colors to the Schemes rather than leaving the optional colors all the same. (For new installs)
- Revising the sample AUTO files to use a more standard set of schemes
- Increasing the available AUTO files to add more file types. (I'd like to thank Jens Becker for a pointer to a large set of keyword files for computer languages.
To do this though requires some categorization of Scheme types to be used throughout the Schemes / AUTO files. e.g. I was thinking groupings like: - Comments
- Numeric values
- Quoted Literals
- Delimiters / Operators
- Compiler Directives
- Language Keywords
- Data Definition Statements
- Functions/Methods/Classes Built-in
- Functions/Methods/Classes Library
- Functions/Methods/Classes System API
Comments? Ideas? Suggestions for the above categories? I believe this would make the sample AUTO files much more readily usable and shareable between users. George

Right now, the various sample AUTO files have no consistency as to Scheme # usage. E. G. The Scheme # for comments might be 1 or 3 or 8 or whatever. Meaning if someone is trying out various AUTO files they are going to appear wildly different as to they appear.
Previously the color choices were embedded, and thus synchronized with the rest of the AUTO file.
We've lost that. All I'm suggesting is that the sample AUTO files should at least be consistent. E. G. All comments will use Scheme 1, delimiters use Scheme 2, quoted literals use 3, etc. Etc.
That way, regardless of what actual colors a user has specified in Options => Schemes, different file types and their colorization will at least be somewhat consistent.
