Hi, I've been chugging along with the SPFLite2 release and I'll soon be at the point where some Beta testers are REALLY needed. What I think will happen is, I will make a normal Installer file available. It would install in the current install folder alongside the existing version. A new Icon for SPFLite2 would be created on the Desktop.
At that point, both old and new versions can co-exist.
Although the new version supports moving the \SPFLite folder to a new location, I would not recommend doing that while dual operation of both versions is still desired.
This will require a bit of patience simply because I can not anticipate what may or may not 'go wrong'.
If you are willing to participate, please reply and let me know. Before going too much further, I will post here some excerpts from the Doc. for the relevant sections.

George,
Count me in. I will not be doing much more than I could do with ISPF although I could try going through the manual page by page (yuck!).

MUEH: Forgot about the Align macro. I've renamed it to CAlign to avoid the collision.
NICC: Yeah, I can Yuck the Doc as well. Double Yuck - I (and Robert) have to create all that stuff that nobody reads.
I'll try and get something out soon. Going off on vacation in 2 1/2 weeks, so I'd like to get it available before then.

OK, here is a quick hack job on the SPFLite2 Doc. I've basically just deleted everything in the doc that hasn't changed so instead of 900+ pages there are about a dozen. It's in standard .DOC format so I'm sure you can all access it. If not let me know. None of this is cast in stone, so if you see problem areas, or anything else that could be improved, get those comments in quickly. Or just questions, areas that need more explanation. George, Robert: I like to read good Doc. And Yours were always - and continue to be - very good. Thanks for this. Btw, "share DEFAULT Profile" is now in "Options", which is fine. Even beeing there, the suffix.AUTO colorization file was honored, I hope this will still be the case. Jo

I get a corrupt file message when I download and try to open with open office. Do not panic yet. Tomorrow I will try with my XP laptop as it has MS Office on it.

Hmmm - Office 2000 cannot open it either. Any chance of it being saved in that format and either linked here or mailed to me?

Tried downloading twice more and both times Open Office says it is corrupt and gets a read error while trying to repair the corruption. Textpad opens it ok but, of course, nothing is intelligible. I will have to try and report it to Open Office.
Hi Robert, I don't know if DOCX will be handled by Open Office - at least my version. But I should be able to read a PDF using Acrobat. Thanks.

Odd. I don't even have Word, I use LibreOffice 6.2.5.2 and saved it in DOC format.
Regardless, I've added the PDF attachment to the original post with the DOC version. (Thanks Robert)

George: I use GET_INI_Path$ in 3 Macros to read files stored in INI path . Will there be an equivalent function to get path of the Data Storage Folder ? Just a Question : Where do you remember the CFG file Folder ? Hope you can start SPFLite2 if there is a mismatch to Change it in OPT Config . Thanks

MUEH: Get_INI_Path$ will be returning the address of the folder which contains the data sub folders (MACROS, AUTO, etc.)
The CFG file location is stored in the Registry, it is the ONLY use of the Registry. Since the CFG file can now be moved anywhere, there has to be some anchor point in order to find it.
I toyed with doing it like -INI did, but I don't like forcing users to go modify their shortcuts. I don't even really like using -INSTANCE for alternate Instances for the same reason, but I can't think of any other way.
If the Registry entry is missing, it is treated as a new installation.
If the Registry entry is there, but the CFG file cannot be found, an error message is popped showing where the file was EXPECTED to be found. User can choose to terminate (and go figure out where his CFG file went) or to treat it as a new installation.
I'm open to other suggestions.
