no, no, I lost it when I installed the new version. the intermittent problem ... the bane of programmers. :-(
I tried to put a picture up. It turned me sideways. So I tried a different one. "Too big". Maybe the blank head is more indicative. :-(

A re-install shouldn't affect things as long as you don't un-install first - which is NEVER necessary. Always just install right over the top of an existing installation.
As to loss of FLISTS, I haven't seen this and can't even think of what might be the cause. So anything anyone can add as to some circumstance that might have caused it would be helpful.
Yes Lin, intermittent problems ARE the bane of programmers everywhere.

As suggested, I just did the install. Didn't clean anything up. (Kind of like houses I know.) Not that I have a huge history, but I don't recall an install that was easier. I was likely a few releases behind might be the only thing I can think of.

Lin: Not sure how old your previous release was, it would have to have been VERY old to cause a problem. The format of FLIST files did alter at one point, but that was a very, very long time ago.

Lin: Yes, significant changes to FLIST support were done in 7.1.4050. By jumping directly to a V8 release, you missed out on transition support that would have been helpful. I usually leave such bridge support in for a couple releases but eventually remove it.

Okay, I have a serious case of dumb. I can't figure out how to make the PFkeys work. I think I had the problem before and forget how to fix it. I swear I've looked at the doc and cannot find it. I see how to map keys, but not how to make 'em work. It's just by accident that I found this page. I hope I can find it again. Sometimes that is a problem. OH, and how are you these days?

Lin: When you say they don't work - do you mean NOTHING happens? Or not the right thing happens?
Do PgUp and PgDown work? After all, they are simply PFKeys. If they do, check what KEYMAP says for PgUp and compare it to what you have for one of the non-working PFKs.
Let me know what you turn up.

The PgUp and down keys work. F1-F12 don't. Specifically, Rfind and Rchange. And good morning. I swear, I looked for more than an hour and couldn't find how to make them active. That may be due to senility, but I think I had the same problem a couple years ago. When I find out this time, I'll save it in the file in which I save everything. If I get to make a recommendation, do something such that a search will find it.

Lin: As I said - "What does KEYMAP show for F1?" Also, in the SPFLite Start menu folder there's an item called Keyboard Test. Run that and see if it shows the PF keys working. If they work in Keyboard Test, then is just HAS to be some problem in how you have KEYMAP set up.

Sorry, I'll catch on. In the spflite key map, f1 = help, f5 = rfind, f6 = rchange In Keyboard test, f1 70 38 00 000 ---- ----- ---- num --- ------ --- f1 f4 4e 31 0e 014 ---- lctrl ---- num --- ------ --- N f5 4f 18 0f 015 ---- lctrl ---- num --- ------ --- O a) I just installed the latest version, and the problem is still there. b) Have I told you how much I like the install? keymap is the same (f1-help f5-rfind f6-rchange) keyboard test f1 70 3b 00 000 ---- ----- ---- num --- ------ --- f1 f5 4f 18 0f 015 ---- lctrl ---- num --- ------ --- o f6 73 3e 00 000 ---- lctrl ---- num --- ------ --- f4

Lin: Well now ... here's what I get for F1/F4/F5
Enter any key, or press ESC twice to cancel VK SC HEX DEC C *ALT *CTRL CAPS NUM SCR *SHIFT ENH KEYNAME == == === === = ==== ===== ==== === === ====== === ======= 70 3B 00 000 ---- ----- ---- --- --- ------ --- F1 74 3F 00 000 ---- ----- ---- --- --- ------ --- F5 75 40 00 000 ---- ----- ---- --- --- ------ --- F6
Now compare that to yours and it's no wonder things aren't working.
Why does NumLock appear to be on for all of them? Why do F5 and F6 show the Left-Ctrl key is down as well?
Get rid of those "extra" keys and I think you will find all is well. Remember SPFLite is sensitive to the keys on the KeyPad vs the same keys on the main part of the keyboard. i.e. Keypad 5 is NOT the same as the normal 5 key.
And nearly all keys can have EIGHT variations Normal / Shift / Ctrl / Alt / Shift-Alt / Shift-Ctrl / Ctrl-Alt / Shift-Ctrl-Alt. And EACH of those has it's own unique mapping.

Okay (SIGH) The problem was the F-lock key. Realizing that the numlock key changed what keys do, I just fished at random. The alternate(?) assignments for function keys are interesting?? Might be useful, but I didn't see how to change them. The keymap doesn't seem to so that. keyboard test seems to show them, but I couldn't get it to change anything. At 76 now, with serious ADD, sometimes I just try to write something to see how far I get. My progress seems to decline some every year. And ADD makes it harder to learn just about anything new. From your point of view, I'm afraid that I'll probably bug you every year or so, but only for a couple more times, after which, just turning my PC on might be a challenge. Thanks very much. Lin: The Keypad mappings (if I remember correctly) are all related to what happens when NumLock is OFF. You should be able to set them up just like any other key.
As to layout, I always tend to map the keypad the way the old keypad on the original 3270's existed, where the keypad was PFK13 to PFK24. I hated (and still do) the location of the F1 F12 keys above the normal keys. That was simply bowing to the PC keyboard which was slowly taking over from real 3270's. I hung onto my real 3270 until they dragged it from my clutching fingers.
I'm almost 75 now too. Just keep plugging, it really is a "use it or lose it" situation.

How can I modify the temporary filename in the SUBMIT function? Currently generates a filename SUBMIT_ACCOUNT_JOBnnnnnn.txt. I would like to add an additional node before .txt. Is this possible? I am using version 8.4.6075.
