If I do a multi-edit in the filemanager over large files, it is difficult to know which file is currently edited.
It would be good if the current filename is shown in the status line or somewhere else.
If the cursor is in line 2, the status line should show "text1.txt". If the cursor is in line 5, the status line should show "tt.bat".
Sample: ===> h:\temp\test1.txt 00001 sdsdhjkfds 00002 dsf /* hhdsdsddd */ sdhjshdjsh 00003 dsf "jhs\"hsjd" sdfdfd ===> h:\temp\tt.bat 00004 @echo off 00005 setlocal 00006 ...

Jonas: Not a bad idea, have to figure out what SB Box to double up, you have any preference as to which one you could 'do without'?

I only use the cursor position. Occasionally the 'INS/OVR' indicator. Date and time I get from my task bar. I tend only to use Windows files so CRLF and ANSI are not important to me. Nic

Nicc: You should note the date/time are the date/time of last modification of the file being edited, not the current date/time. Mind you, once you do a SAVE, they're pretty close.

I don't have any preferences. Put it where you think it is best. Jonas

Jonas: I've stuck the filename into the normal 'Cols x to y' box. Only for MEdit sessions, and only when the cursor is within the data lines. I figure that is one of the least needed pieces of info. And a simple (Home) re-displays it.

Robert: Looks like it will hold about 18-20 characters, which will probably do the vast majority of filenames. But just for you I'll have a look at the Windows title bar, but I really don't like calling that on cursor movement. I'll see. George
[update] OK, doesn't seem to cause any problems, I've moved it to the title bar.

You can put it in a new box after the last status bar column (after CRLF). My screen is width enough. Called it the info-box for additonal information.

Jonas: I think we'll ignore adding more SB boxes, even though I have a large enough screen, I rarely use fullscreen mode so I usually don't even see the right hand boxes as it is. At least the title will be always visible.

I tested it. It works great.

PS: If you are bored, you could improve this feature also for PageDown, PageUp, ....

Jonas: Do you mean when PgUp/PdDown shift the screen and the cursor is on the command line, you'd like the filename to = the top screen line?
I'll have a look, but it would have to be done where the current code does it. I don't like stuffing in kludges in multiple odd locations.

Yes.
Maybe you should show no file name in the title or the file name of the file which is displayed in the first line of the screen or ...
