Hello, I have just installed SPFLite2. I installed it to directory c:\Program Files (x86)\SPFLite2. I use SPFLite in a variety of environments i.e., editing Unix files, mainframe and PC files. In the old version I used the -init command flag to direct SPF to use the .INI file dedicated to the environment I was working in. In SPFLite2 the -init flag is gone. As near as I can tell it has been replaced with -instance flag. I have read the help pertaining to maintaining multiple instances. In a nutshell it says to create a shortcut to SFPLite2 named with the name of the instance and modify the target string to include the -instance parameter. In my case to get things off the ground a created a shortcut named TEST that points to the SPFLite2 executable (see the attached screenprint). In the shortcut I updated the target string to include the -instance TEST parameter (see the attached screenprint). When I double-click on the shortcut I get an error message that reads: Cannot use -INSTANCE on initial execution (see attached screenprint). Can you assist? Thank you in advance. Regards, RPrinceton

Hi, I think the message is telling you exactly what's wrong. You cannot create additional instances until you have done the basic install, and initial execution of SPFLite2. Once you have the normal install complete, you can proceed with exactly what you have attempted. You don't have to start over with what you've done, just fire up SPFLite2 with it's normal install icon, and let it do the normal 1st time execution stuff. Then using the TEST icon you should see: George
