Hi, I started a new thread as the old one is getting quite large. OK, I have the basics of our MODE Profile addition working, still lots to go. Had to figure out how to handle the ==PROF> display for MODE. The problem was if the Profile had MODE EDIT and the file was specifically opened in BROWSE (overriding the EDIT) what should the PROF lines show? So I chose to put the Profile's version in [ ] if it has been overridden by a specific open. Here's an example with the Profile MODE EDIT and a specific BROWSE open. Going to wind things down now for a while as we're off on vacation in 4 days. We'll be back in mid-August. I'll continue to test and tweak a bit, but it's going to take a lot of testing, this was a pretty major bunch of revisions. Had I known, I wouldn't have started it. If it gets remotely stable I might put up a Beta to play with before I leave. George

Your display looks good. But, I kinda think you *would* have started it. It seems like EFT is a concept that is calling out to you, and you have to answer it. On any other day, you would have said No and that would have been the end of it. And yet here you are.
Enclosing MODE in brackets is a good choice. Short and sweet. Personally, I think I would have done it like [MODE VIEW] with the whole thing in brackets, but that's a mere cosmetic.
You have accomplished a lot and gotten a long way. You deserve a vacation.
Nice work.

Robert: Thanks. Yes, the changes were intriguing, plus the opportunity to do a lot of cleanup.
Where testing bogs down is that literally everything that does any I/O has to be gone through. The combinations involved just seem to go on forever. But I think that now the EFT and MODE stuff is in, I can proceed, until they were settled and pinned down testing the other stuff would be simply a waste of time.
I think a Beta is possible, but it would have to come with a significant caveat, but I could really use help here to get through this part. Of course bug fixes would just have to wait a few weeks to resolve.

Like Pat Benatar would say, "hit me with your best shot".
If you got a beta, I be a tester.

p.s.
PLEASE explain how the heck the thing is supposed to work, so I know what to test for.
Pretty please?
And oh yeah, I don't mean production quality Help docs, just a road map of all the stuff that's new. I've been missing a few staff meetings, so I might not know everything.
