I would like to utilize source numbering and cannot find any reference to doing so. Commands such as 'NUM OFF', 'NUM ON STD', 'NUM ON COB', 'RENUMBER', 'UNNUMBER', etc. Does this capability exist in 'Lite?

Nope - probably because lines are, generally, variable length. So where where you put the numbers? However, this is just my pondering as to why those commands do not exist. George will come in with the gritty truth.

Dan: Nicc: Odd, I just had this question via email a short time ago, so here's a cut/paste of what I said then. Yes, the NUMBER support has been requested a few times, but we've never really tackled it seriously as most PC source code simply doesn't use numbers. But you can get renumbered by doing the following: - At some point do an ENUMWITH nn command to set the line number increment. This setting will be remembered.
- At some point use KEYMAP to set some chosen key (Ctrl-E ??) to (Enum), This will also be remembered.
- Make sure the 1st line to be renumbered has a valid number in it, not blanks (COBOL is cols 1-6 - right?)
- On the command line enter PowerType mode by entering PTYPE startline# endline# (Or PT .ZF .ZL for the whole file)
- Mark the columns 1-6 (Shift-Arrow) on the PTYPE edit line
- Type Ctrl-E and the lines will be renumbered.
- Hit Enter to exit Powertype mode.
Or, if only a small section needs renumbering - Select columns 1-6 in the line range using the Shift-Arrow keys
- Type Ctrl-E to perform the renumber.
Obviously if the source has numbering in different columns, replace 1-6 above with whatever column numbers are appropriate.
A bit clumsy, but if you did this regularly, it could probably be simplified a wee bit by creating a keyboard macro.

Robert: I'd THOUGHT I'd posted a reply yesterday. Maybe I just didn't hit Post or something.
Sure fire across your thoughts, but I'm not clear why some kind of user defined profile variables would be required. Wouldn't it just be some new NUMBER oriented variables?
Or are you 'looking forward' to some other enhancement that would use them?
