Hi, My machine runs so slowly that the proverbial infinite number of monkeys with their keyboards could do things quicker. So, I went to look at uninstalling any old programs. I found 3 entries for SPFLite - one without a version number and 2 with 6.0.2xxx. So I deleted the oldest 6.0.2xxx except it deleted the current (7.whatever) version. Too bad, I thought. I can always reinstall. In the meantime lets get rid of the other 2 entries. But, I cannot as they seem to both point to the version just unistalled. So I went and downloaded and installed the latest version. Guess what! I have the same three entries back in my program list. Does anyone know how to get rid of all 3 entries and, if I have to have an entry for the installation, how to ensure control panel is displaying as the latest version?
Thanks Nic

Robert: Nicc: I've seen this problem myself with other applications. I've no idea how it occurs. But here's a MS link as to how to remove the 'extra' entries. support.microsoft.com/kb/310750Some other points: - You should never have to uninstall a previous SPFLite version before installing a new one. In fact, it blows away everything SPFLite related, simply not a good idea unless you've no plans to re-install.
- The Open with SPFLite registry item is NOT how SPFLite determines if you are registered. [Yes, I know; I tried to show that they were two different things in the registry, not that they both were involved in 'registering' SPFLite - Robert]
- Robert is quite right, there is nothing installed as part of SPFLite that would impact system performance.

Hi guys
I just unzip and execute the setup program - no un-instal. Thanks for that link, George, 2 offending entries have been deleted.
I wasn't inferring that SPFLite was impacting performance but perhaps the duplicate entries were. I am doing all sorts of cleanup tasks and performance is improving.

Hi Nicc, Yes, cleanup is a pain. I'm very careful about what and how stuff gets installed, and I still get caught off guard at what shows up installed sometimes. I know why some people wipe their systems and re-install everything periodically. But that is SUCH a pain to do.
