Hi, Here's a first Beta of the new File Manager changes. The EXE is named SPFLite24.EXE, just place it in the normal install folder. BUT FIRSTIn your HomeFolder, copy SPFLite.CFG to SPFLite.CFG2. I'm not using the normal CFG just to be cautious.
This Beta will not touch your current CFG file. All settings etc. in CFG2 should work normally.
It WILL make changes to some of your FLIST files over time, but I have been using both SPF23 and SPF24 and have not experienced any problems.
But that's what Beta's are for.
I have not updated any Doc. yet, so that WORD file in the other thread is all there is. Except the X line command is back.
Of course, bugs, comments etc. are what we're after.

[UPDATE Feb 26] Minor revisions to correct help text on the options = FM panel. This is V2.4.21061 I'll try and get the version #s updated regularly

Robert: Great help. I'll obviously have to do some more on handling of old FM values. I do remember doing the DATETIME stuff, so maybe there's an actual bug there. My intention is to avoid any dumb errors like this. I want to be able to just accept current CFG files. I'll correct those overlapping check-boxes. Last minute adjustments, you know how easy GUI changes are. The PRPn entries are coded as PRP1(length,alignment,property-name) e.g PRP1(20,L,Album) - where 20 is the width of the column.
- L requests Left Alignment (R = Right) - This is because all properties come as strings, but some are really numeric.
- Album is any one of the current supported Properties (See list on the Options => FM screen)

OK, another try. Please copy your CFG to CFG2 again, make sure the DATETIME and NOTE entries are present in the FM layout. And BTW, your minimize to tray is also there, see the main Options panel. George SPFLite24.exe (511 KB)

Duh! Would you believe it was as simple as handling DATE but not DATETIME? Neither did I. Sometimes I wonder how things like this can be missed. If you're up to it, do the copy CFG to CFG2 again, otherwise trust me it's fixed. Glad you like the Minimize to Tray. George SPFLite24.exe (510.5 KB)

George: Getting popup window in 2.4 with msg Untrapped Error #9 following execution of CMDADDST . ocuures f.e during opt FM cmd clicking on FLIST e.t.c here a pictute of msg followed by loop detection . There is also a concern with FMSet_Msg which i use f.e to show full path name time in second's by MI macro . Data of msg is truncated by length of NAME . How can i use LRDATETIME CRDATETIME in RecentFiles display ? Min. % of Media files in OPT FM is always 30 % . Can't alter it . Thanks for adding X support in FM .

MUEH: The message may be truncated because you haven't set the length of the NAME field (the default is quite short). Previously NAME didn't even exist and the NAME field got whatever length was left over after the other optional fields were filled in from the right boundary.
You can now specify the length of the name field (and all other fields) by appending the length in parenthesis. For example: NAME(55) or ATTR(4) etc.
% of Media files - well, if you don't code the SAVE action, then you get no saving. Corrected.
RecentFiles and RecentPaths. The date shown is the LRDate (see the heading).
I'm not sure how to handle customizing all this. There are many more columns available, (that's why we now have Left/Right scrolling) but only 1 Layout (ignoring the Media layout). Yet some, like Recent, want the new MODE column. Some displays like Config have no data for many columns.
So I put in code so that specialized displays like Config, Recent etc. can specify their own unique layout. I'm open to suggestions as to what these unique layouts should be, but I do not want to open up the FM options to allow a different layout line for each display mode.
Lastly, I'm not clear just what you did to create the crash. Can you clarify George

MUEH: Still lost here. When you say 'selecting one of the FM Tabs' do you mean simply clicking on one of the display modes from the QuickList bar? Like Recent or Favorites or Paths or FLISTS etc.
I can click on any of the QuickList items - no problem. Similarly I can issue RC xxxx where xxxx is any of the QuickList names, all work fine?
Or are you getting this running your 'magic macros'? If so, send me the macros.
Again, anything more you can tell me? Please send me your CFG2 file.

MUEH:
Somehow your CFG2 file says it has a RETRIEVE table of ZERO entries!
OK, SPFLite should not crash because of this, and I will figure out how to make it cope.
But how on earth could your CFG2 file end up like this? And if it is a copy of your normal CFG file, why doesn't the Prod. SPFLite get the same crash?

Robert: I'm living in Lower Austria about 90 km from Vienna . My first language is German . I'm an IBM-Retiree and 73 Years old .
George: Thanks for pointing me to RDEFAULT Table . Have an export from 17/1/2021 and it contained 50 entries there . All cmd retrieve tables for the other instances are okay so i didn't recognize that the DEFAULT instance cmd retrieve did not work in 2.3 . Will correct it . Thanks for your great assistance .
