Hi George and Robert,
Thank you for version 21346. I apologise for this untimely report.
It's been quite a while since I used the DIFF command, so this bug may have been out there undiscovered for a while.
DIFF does not pick up the filenames to be compared if the source files are in an FM tab to the right of a tab showing previous DIFF command output or (CLIP) output.
Load two files (File1 and File2) into SPFLITE You see...
(1) a tab for File Manager (2) a tab for File1 (3) a tab for File2 Issue command DIFF 2 3. You get the DIFF options panel followed by
(4) a tab for the "DIFF 2 3" output. Excellent!
Now load another two files (File3 and File4) into SPFLite
You see the above, plus...
(5) a tab for File3 (6) a tab for File4
Issue command DIFF 5 6. You get the DIFF Options panel, BUT the FileA and FileB fields are empty. There's no path in those fields
This lack of a file name affects only DIFF commands which specify one or both tab numbers beyond an initial DIFF command output tab number or a CLIP command tab number. e.g. a DIFF 6 2 in this instance will have a file name in the FileB field but the FileA field will be blank.
I trust both you and Robert and your families are managing to stay healthy in these mad times.
Merry Christmas to you, your families and everyone on this forum.

Stefan: You do find the oddest quirks. I'll have a look, it's gotta be a real oddity.
As for Xmas, my family has mostly stayed healthy, except that last Thursday (my birthday) I had a few too many free drinks at my local pub, and stumbled over a parking lot curbstone while leaving. And at 79, it doesn't take much to do a lot of damage.
I don't remember the fall at all, I just remember waking up in the hospital emergency room. I'm OK, nothing broken, but I look like I've been in a back-alley brawl. Black eyes, and a general WTF - who beat me up with a club feeling.
The family Xmas pictures this year will be memorable.
Hopefully, your family, and all the other SPFLite users will enjoy more 'normal' Xmas activities. Merry Xmas to you all.
George

Robert: Sorry to hear you're keeping up with me. I've been back, twice now for CAT scans, since there was some minor internal bleeding, but all seems OK. As far as my aches and pains in the neck, arms, shoulders, etc. that seems to be my pennance for stumbling.
