I have run into a problem with the last few versions of SPFLite with one process I do fairly regularly.
I have a list of something (filenames, user DNs, whatever). I want to create commands for each of the list items, and to build the commands I need each item duplicated on the line. Then I can set bounds and make some changes to one of the copies. The list items would generally be 30-50 characters long (mixed lengths), and there are usually in the hundreds of lines (the last instance I think was just over 300 lines).
Here's what I do to accomplish this:
- I duplicate the list with CC block line commands, copying the block after a blank line at the end with an A line command
- I shift one copy of the items to the right far enough over to avoid collisions
- I move one copy of the items over top of the other, with MM commands on one block and OO commands on the other
The problem is that when there is a certain amount of data involved in the block overlay, SPFlite just vanishes. Poof!
I haven't tried this in the very latest version, but it existed in the most recent one, and a couple before that. I've duplicated this on a couple of systems, Win 7 and Win 8, both 64-bit.
The last time this hit me was a week or two ago (sorry I am slow to report it).
I have worked around this by doing the overlays in smaller chunks, although that's more tedious. I'd almost rather just write a Rexx to do this part of the process. (Off topic... I would have preferred Rexx scripting... :-) )
Anyone else seen this? I may be able to dig up the dataset I was working with, although I think any good sized list would do.
