Hi George,
Answer:
I intended to cut a CC...CC line range from the EDIT session into a clipboard called IT, but command "CUT IT" just creates an empty IT.CLIP file and issues message "Colour change not supported during Cut".
The HELP CUT documentation doesn't alert me to any special meaning for the char sequence IT in the command syntax.
I don't think the unquoted string IT was mistaken as a <search-string>, especially as the HELP doc specifically states: Special Note: the search string, even if a simple string like ABC MUST be enclosed in quotes. e.g. "ABC" This is to prevent it being treated as the CB-Name operand.
If I do place quotes around the string, e.g. CUT 'IT', the CUT works as expected, namely, copying all lines containing the string IT into the windows clipboard.
So I wonder if 'IT' is a reserved word for something else in the command parser.
The error message text is also odd. Other than auto-colorisation when loading the file, the data has no color attributes for CUT to worry about. CUT with a different <cb-Name> operand proceeds fine.

George: To be of some help Problem occures since changes Between 2.5.22066 and 2.6.22138 (May 18/2022) * Enhance the CUT command to support string search conditions (like FIND supports) to the line selection abilities. METHOD pCmdCUT(pCmd AS STRING) IF LEFT$(gCmdOps(i), 1) = "+" OR LEFT$(gCmdOps(i), 1) = "i" THEN _ MErrExit(%eFail, "Color change not supported during CUT") ' All CB names starting with i get msg since it should be a minus - in above IF . Hope it saves you time .

MUEH: Quite right, an ancient typo it was. Thanks for the research.
