In SPFLite V8.1.4311 executing from the command line SPFLite.exe -B <filename> or SPFLite.exe -BROWSE <filename> goes into Edit as shown at the lower-left of the screen in the Status Bar. I discovered this when trying to set SPFLite as a "viewer" command in WinSCP. Even from a "plain" command line prompt it doesn't work. This is the first time I've attempted to use -BROWSE from the command line. This happens on my main XP SP3 system and my 64-bit Acer W7 laptop. Setting SPFLite as the external editor in WinSCP works as expected.
Since I'm on here, one little oddity that I've recently noticed is that SPFLite does not remember the width of the screen. I can't determine what causes this, but sometimes when starting SPFLite the right-hand edge of its window goes off the right-hand side of the screen. Again, this happens on XP and W7. Not a big deal, but more of a nuisance of having to get the right-hand side of the window back.

bitpusher: Aack! Hard to say, but this looks like a pretty old bug. Corrected. If you'd like the fixed version, download www.SPFLite.com/Files/SPFLite814326.ex_ from the website, rename it to SPFLite.EXE and copy to the normal Install folder. As to the screen size and position, SPFLite always re-opens at the same location and with the same size as it had on close. I just tried with a variety of locations and sizes and it looks fine on this end. You're seeing it on two different systems? Anyone else seeing this incorrect handling? George

Hi George, thanks for the reply.
I clicked on your link and got a message that the requested file was not on the server. You do not need to fix this for me because I'll just remember that it is EDIT for now.
Regarding the "creeping" right-hand margin of the SPFLite window, I did some more testing and will provide the results here. Although this problem also occurs on XP Professional SP3 I did this test on the newer operating system
System Information: Acer Aspire 5734Z-4386 notebook, Windows 7 64-bit, 15.6" screen at 1366x768. SPFLite File Manager at startup. I got the results regardless if I started SPFLite from a taskbar icon or a desktop icon, and whether I closed it with =X, EXIT, or the upper right-hand close X, or whether or not I actually edited a file.
I initially set the SPFLite window size with respect to the screen bezel/frame as follows: Top 1/8", Bottom 5/8", Left 1/2", and Right 3/4".
As I started/stopped SPFLite the top, bottom, and left window margins remained the same while the right hand margin followed in this sequence: 5/8", 1/2", 3/8", 1/4", 1/8", 0", window Close X button off screen, window Restore button off screen, window Minimize button off screen.
I also started/stopped IrfanView and MS C++ 2008 Express multiple times and they did not exhibit this problem.
Like I previously mentioned, this is more of a nuisance than a big problem, but it didn't happen before. I think it started with V8.1, but I'm not sure because I've been spending a lot of time on my Raspberry computers lately and not so much on Windows.

bitpusher: Link for the fix version has been corrected. Seems I can't even type the filename correctly 20 seconds after uploading the file.
What font are you using? SPFLite keeps the window's upper left corner coordinates and the screen size in terms of character rows/columns. I'm thinking it's a problem in the values (height/width) returned for the particular font. I think this has happened before with a font which somehow didn't report correctly. Can you try with a different font? (e.g. a Raster font from the downloadable font collection on the web site, or something like Courier New)

Hi George,
You're on the right track! I am using Courier New font pitch 9 (XP and W7). After reading your reply I tested again with Courier New font pitch 10 on W7 and the problem went away!!!

bitpusher: OK using Courier New/9 I see what you're seeing. I'll go chase it. Obviously calculating on startup and calculating after a stretch/font change are not coming up with the same answer. On my system, each restart grows wider by two text columns.
Stay tuned.

bitpusher: OK, font problem is fixed (I think). Re-calculating window sizes is a pain trying to keep all the overhead stuff straight (border sizes, etc.) It works now on my Win 8.1 system with a variety of fonts, please let me know how it is on yours. It may need some additional tweaking. Fix version is www.SPFLite.com/Files/SPFLite814328.ex_ Rename it to SPFLite.EXE and copy to the normal Install folder. George

Hi George,
I downloaded/renamed the new file and it fixed the "migrating" right window edge problem. I changed the Courier New font pitch to 9 and started/stopped SPFLite about 10 times and the right window edge didn't move. I only tried this on my W7 notebook because high winds have knocked out the power several times today so I haven't powered-up my main XP system yet today but I would bet it is fixed there also. I'll let you know if there is a problem on XP.
Thanks for the fix.

George,
Just to confirm, SPFLite V8.1.4328 on Windows XP Professional, SP3 using Courier New font pitch 9 on a screen resolution of 1600x1200 works fine - No "creeping" right margin.
