Hi,
I change autosave to 0 in profiles\default.ini. Then close and open again spflite.exe (v8.2.5103) Then autosave is set to 2 again.
Is this a bug or by design ?
Thanks Jonas

jonas:
I'll go check it, but my first comment is:
PLEASE STAY OUT OF THE INI FILES !!!
I have in the past chased bugs from users who 'helpfully' edited some INI file directly (It's easy! It's just a text file!) and wasted my time trying to figure out how some stupid value got in there. Eventually they come up with "Oh! didn't I tell you I edited it directly?"
There is NO NEED, EVER, to directly edit these files. If you want to peek, for curiosity's sake, fine - go ahead. But please do not alter what you see, some values are obvious and you'd be 100% correct in altering them, but others are not. . . . .
OK, I've checked it, and it all seems to be fine. I have cycled the AUTOSAVE setting through all 4 combinations of ON/OFF and PROMPT/NOPROMPT and the INI file properly changes to the correct numerical equivalent. Are you altering the INI while SPFLite is running and somehow expecting it to pick up your new values? If the INI is in use in an edit session this will never work.
The only other guess I have is that you are a long time SPFLite user and you're looking at the AUTOSAVE value in the SPFLite.INI file. If so, this value is never looked at anymore, not since the value became part of the Profile INI files. These values in the SPFLite.INI file are obsolete and dormant. They're not hurting anything and are simply not worth the effort to review and remove.
Robert: My bet is you are looking at ACTION not AUTOSAVE, as AUTOSAVE does NOT display the numeric value, nor does it involve VSAVE.

Hi George,
Ok, I tried it again and I still get the same behaviour.
Win 7 Home premium: 1. I do make a new install with: spflite.v8.2.5103.zip After installation I start spflite. I choose option b (enter=enter,...)
In Filemanager I choose Profile (green line). There I edit default.ini A new window is opend. In File Data Options I choose: OFF NOPROMPT I close the window with Done. I close spflite.exe with "exit".
2. I start spflite.exe again. I choose Profile in Filemanger. There I edit default.ini. In File Data Options: OFF PROMPT <=============== wrong
I hope you can reproduce this behaviour.

Jonas: Great! I've finally found the bug buried in the program initialization code. Doesn't affect anything other than the Default profile. The upcoming new release will contain the fix. Thanks for spotting it.
George
[Robert]---> FYI, George, when I did my testing, I did LOOK at the INI file, but I didn't change it for testing purposes. Hopefully you got the nasty bugger that was causing what I was seeing as well.
