Hi,
in JCL.AUTO sample file you have sections for words, quoted, normal and comments. It works ok, but there are some some type of jcl lines that don't colorize as I wish. I mean the lines of the data instream in this example:
//STEP01 EXEC PGM=PROGRAM1 //SYSIN DD * SAMPLE INSTREAM DATA. PGM /* //*
In this example the line "SAMPLE INSTREAM DATA. PGM" will be colorize with normal sheme (and PGM will colorize like a word). It is possible to apply a scheme for this type of lines? In JCL we have 4 type of lines, depending of the 3 initial characters (//, //*, /* and spaces).

robert, I'm not inventing anything. I send you a picture with the colorization that IBM have in a editor in a mainframe system. I just ask if we can colorize like that with AUTO file (especially the lines instream). regards,

of course I understand robert. Thank you for your reply. I just didn't know if it was possible to do that with the AUTO file. Ok, hope in the future, you do something close...

Robert: Parruda: All things are possible. It's a matter of how to add the function without breaking what's already here. As Robert said, the color parser is a single line at a time, language blind scanner. It doesn't know/care whether it's JCL, C++, Dos batch, COBOL, etc. We have to come up with something that can manage this. We'll have a look, that's the most we can promise.

Hmm, maybe you introduce a type of negative COMMENT-statement. Means everything not starting with a "/" in Col 1 is colored as a comment. Sounds simple for JCL, but generally? Just an idea...

Just a thought....
If we can't identify non-JCL lines to colourise them, we could colorise all other lines. So, (as Jo already mentioned)....
...if we had a construct similar to COMMENT but which still allowed further colorisation scanningon the line, it would effectively specify a "base" colour for all lines starting with // in col 1 yet still allow for keywords like JOB, PGM, etc to be highlighted. The non-JCL lines would then be in the only thing in SCHEME 0 colour.

Stefan: Have a look at the INCLUDE and EXCLUDE colorize statements. I'm pretty sure that's what you're looking for.
