Hi, Many of you have been long-time SPFLite users and have thus gone through many version upgrades. As SPFLite has evolved, we have altered, added and obsoleted many of the INI values that control SPFLite options. But the INI file support provided by Microsoft has one significant failing - it provides no facility to remove obsolete entries from an INI file. So over the years, the INI file has accumulated a lot of 'garbage' entries. They do no harm, but simply clutter up the file with useless data. I personally find this annoying and have written a small tool to clean up this obsolete data. The program is attached to this posting. To run it: First - make sure you are on the current version (10.1.9014) - if not, don't use this tool until you are.- Stop all running copies of SPFLite
- Run the attached SPFLiteINICleanup.EXE program (from any folder)
- The program will create two files in your \User\yourself\Documents\SPFLite folder.
- NewSPFLite.INI
- SPFLiteINIClean.TXT
- The TXT file contains a report of what has been changed
- The NewSPFLite.INI file is a new replacement INI file
- Swap the SPFLite.INI and NewSPFLite.INI files to implement the cleaned up INI file
If you experience any problems, simply reverse the above Swap to go back to your old INI file, and report the problem. George SPFLiteINICleanup.EXE (41.5 KB)

Hi George - I have run the cleanup and started spflite. My tailored FM colours (green on black) have disappeared the principle change now being that it is black on white. Of course I can, and have, change them back manually.

Nicc: ?? What version are you running? I suspect you are not current, and of course the tool removed all the obsolete keywords (which you were still using).
This is an error on my part, it should have checked to make sure you're current first. I'll have to add that quickly.
George
[UPDATE] I've updated the tool to check for a current version before proceeding. George

Hi George
I am way behind - 8.5.8144. Only 4 releases since then. I hadn't bothered with keeping up because what was being fixed/added did not affect my everyday working.
Laziness rules!

mueh: That file triggered the message? Looks like it should have been fine. I'll download and re-test what I put up. . . test . . Well that is supremely embarrassing! A couple line change and I mucked it up. Only worked for me because my INI was already marked on a newer level that I'm testing.
I'll replace the attachment right away.
