Tried doing a simple find. Typed F ACCEPT (to find the verb accept) and when I hit enter the cursor advances to the next line. Not sure how to check configuration or to fix. No primary commands appear to work. Thank you for your help,
Steve

Just a FYI. The HELP file is also directly available from the Start Menu for SPFLite, you don't need to start SPFLite to get to it. And Robert, I think you're right. The Welcome screen just isn't doing it's job in providing new users with the startup choices. I'm just not sure how we can alter this to make it better. Suggestions? First thing I'll do is remove the (X) close button, I suspect people are just not reading anything and are just closing the box as a 'nuisance' message. That triggers Option C which is the Right-Ctl Enter key. George

Thanks guys. you pinpointed the problem and I can now enter using ctrl key. Odd thing is I thought I chose option B.. to keep my Enter key intact and live with the ctl+enter combo for the newline. Once I figure out the mapping utility I will try to restore my enter key. Being a mainframer this is one of those things that has always driven me batty.. as I prefer the enter key to be Enter, The End key to Erase-End of Line, F3 to be SAVE and backup a screen, and so on.. Thanks for setting me back on the right path. Best Regards, Steve

There should be a fourth option:
Right Ctrl is NEWLINE, Enter is ENTER

Robert: Jonas: I guess I'm just a hard-nosed old fart. This whole area of new users 'not being able to find the Enter key' simply dumbfounds me.
First, my bet is that nobody (well maybe only 99%) tries SPFLite without having previously used ISPF itself, or some other SPF clone like SPF/PC, Tritus SPF etc. So they obviously know the Enter key is a must-have item, and that no self-respecting ISPF clone would be 'missing' such an important key.
So if I tried one out and couldn't find the Enter key, you can be darned sure I'd hammer every single key on the keyboard before I'd cry for help. But no, this seems beyond far too many people's ability. My reaction would be to find it, mutter to myself "Why on earth is it there? How do I change it?" and move on. We've striven to give SPFLite the most flexible, customizable keyboard possible. I think we've done so. Users can setup and use any keyboard layout they prefer. Getting past this Enter key thing is not difficult. The Welcome screen with its (A) (B) and (C) options was supposed to make this straightforward. But it didn't, people still found a path into confusion.
I have removed the (X) close button from the Welcome dialog, so they have to make a specific choice, but that's as far as I go. Trying to add more 'simplification' is a waste of time. Both you and I Robert, have both constantly been amazed that this 'problem' crops up so often. Hopefully the removal of the Close button will stop this.
